Favorite directing credits include Season to Taste, an original drama collaboratively created with actors Laura Iris Hill and Anna Savant for Co-Op Theatre East (COTE); a conservatory production of Frank McGuinness’s brilliant play Carthaginians at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting; a live performance of Samuel Beckett’s radio play Cascando and Vinko Globokar’s Un jour comme un autre, both featuring music ensemble thingNY; Craig Abernethy’s short plays Absolutes and Do/Don’t Do in COTE’s Questionable Content series; Susie Kahlich’s Hitchhikers May Be Escaping Convicts, Michael Jalbert’s Innsmouth, and Gavin Davis’s When It Gets Cold at Night with End Times Productions; David Myers’s Muzungu with COTE; the ensemble-derived Mission with Mixed Phoenix Theatre Group; my own original radio plays, including A New Cassette for Geste Podcast; as well as several works in Amios Theatre Company‘s Shotz series.
I have also created several other original works with COTE, including the one-act Urinal Play, an allegory set in a corporate men’s room with an omniscient, disappearing boss and an overflowing toilet; the radio play Conference, which puts the audience on a campaign strategy conference call; and O Brave New World, a site-specific, improvisation-based performance about technology and theatre set in the midst of a real house-party.
As a performer, I’ve acted roles in classics and brand new plays, from drama to musicals to performance art. Favorite roles include Demetrius in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Feste in Twelfth Night: Wall Street, The Chairman in Rupert Holmes’s Drood, The Living Voter Guide (playing all nine candidates for New York City mayor), Rev. Kimball and others in the Drama-Desk-nominated The Threepenny Opera with Marvell Repertory Theatre, Murray Deutch, trumpet, mandolin and more in Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, and John Ivan in Myrton Running Wolf’s Carlisle: A Different Three Sisters.
